Debrett’s and Bicester Village Guide to British Style

As part of a year-long creative collaboration, Debrett’s partnered with luxury shopping destination Bicester Village to publish a Guide to British Style.

Covering everything from the Windsor knot to the headscarf, no fashion stone has been left unturned in compiling this comprehensive guide to dressing like a true Brit.

The 60-page guide reveals the history behind some of the UK’s most iconic items of clothing – including the trench coat, the wax jacket, and the Wellington boot, exploring their origins and evolution.

The guide also helps to decipher dress codes, including black tie, morning dress and country wear, and features 22 events of the Season which, over the last few decades, have become highlights of the British social calendar.

Deciphering dress codes and exploring Season events – from Glyndebourne to Glastonbury – the guide reveals that heritage, tradition and craft remain central to the British notion of style.

To celebrate the launch of the Debrett’s and Bicester Village Guide to British Style a breakfast panel discussion on “The Future of Fashion and Etiquette” was hosted at the Royal Academy of Arts on 27th March 2017. The discussion was compered by Mary Portas and featured Richard E Grant, Lady Kitty Spencer and Debrett’s men’s style expert Tim Lord.
