‘The finest clothing made is a person’s skin, but, of course, society demands something more than this.’
Mark Twain

When an invitation states ‘black tie’, a gentleman is required to wear a dinner jacket and a bow tie. Bow ties should be black and hand-tied – avoid novelty or coloured ties.

How to tie a bow tie:
– Hang the tie around your neck, in place over the collar. Adjust the tie so that one end is slightly longer than the other, crossing the long end over the short.
– Bring the long end through the centre at the neck.
– Form an angled loop with the short end of the tie crossing left. Drop the long end at the neck over this horizontal loop. Form a similar angled loop with the loose long end of the tie and push this loop through the short loop.
– Tighten knot by adjusting the ends of both loops.
