Rupert Wesson is the Academy director at Debrett’s. He is a speaker and writer on many aspects of corporate learning and personal development, as well as being a qualified coach and British Pyschological Society-qualified psychometric assessor.
Rupert’s work with Debrett’s includes coaching communications, leadership and management, as well as advising on corporate culture and style. He has worked with a number of corporate clients across Europe and beyond. Rupert began his career as an officer in the British Army and he has served on operations in Bosnia, Sierra Leone and Iraq.
WELCOME TO DEBRETT’S ACADEMY
After almost 250 years, Debrett’s remains synonymous with the word ‘etiquette’. It’s a word that, for many, has old-fashioned associations – sets of rules and protocol that no longer apply in a democratic, globalised society.
What we mean by etiquette is an awareness of rules and customs, yes, but also the ability to use that awareness to improve how we interact with one another. Etiquette enables us to show confidence in ourselves and consideration for others – underrated attributes that have an enormous impact on the impressions we make, our ability to forge relationships, and the way we do business.
In a world where technology advances every day, where we can communicate daily with someone on the other side of the world and yet never meet face-to-face, we believe that these skills are more important than ever. More important, even, than in 1769 when John Debrett first founded the company in a Britain on the cusp of a very different type of industrial revolution.
Over the years we’ve continued to consolidate, update and expand. The expertise which was previously available only via our publications is now available in person-to-person coaching with the establishment of our Debrett’s Academy. We now coach both individuals and businesses, helping people to communicate across cultural boundaries and project their best self in any environment.
We work with clients from around the world and with an international perspective, delivering programmes on topics such as public speaking, networking, pitching, relationship management and personal presentation.
