Debrett’s is delighted to work with the Unite Foundation to promote social mobility by delivering free coaching sessions in employability and soft skills to Unite scholars. The Unite Foundation offers university accommodation to young people who are care leavers or who are estranged from their families.
Debrett’s works with the Unite Foundation to support and champion social mobility to ensure that the next generation of leaders are from all walks of life and backgrounds.
The Paired Peers study – led by researchers at Bristol University and the University of the West of England – found that wealthier students were ‘far more able to draw upon family resources and had access to influential social networks’ to help get work experience or internships during their degree.
Debrett’s Academy tutors deliver regular pro-bono training sessions to Unite scholars in areas such as interviews and networking to help provide the skills and confidence to network and gain work experience. Unite scholars also benefit from access to the Debrett’s network, providing opportunities for work experience, internships and mentoring within the business areas they are considering for their future careers.
