Traditionally it was the bride and the mother of the bride who took responsibility for organising the wedding. It is now increasingly likely that the bride and groom will make the majority of the decisions.

While parents should be consulted, especially if they are contributing to or financing the wedding, the bride and groom usually make final decisions on key elements of the day, such as the style of reception, food, drink, entertainment, the wedding list and transport.
