Rejoice in all things rustic this summer at a range of country shows. Quintessentially English, these events are a proud celebration of the countryside and the people who live and work there.

Expect to see exhibitions of the finest livestock and working animals, as well as stands displaying the best produce the countryside can offer. Trade stands display the latest agricultural equipment, machinery and services, as well educational and environmental exhibits.

Perennial favourites at most country shows are dog shows or pony club shows, and exhibitions of countryside skills, such as farriery, sheep-shearing and heavy-horse handling.

Children are usually catered for with Punch and Judy shows, bouncy castles and entertainers, and many local schools and youth groups put on displays of music, dancing and martial arts.
