On Tour: Debrett's New Season
From Glyndebourne to Glastonbury - A social calendar for the 21st century
30 November, 2013 - 31 December, 2013
Strasbourg Cathedral, France

Strasbourg Cathedral, with its Gothic towers and famous astronomical clock, is a breathtaking setting for this ancient market.
With over 300 market chalets, Strasbourg attracts over 1.6 million visitors during the Christmas season. There is an impressive Christmas tree on Place Kléber and a skating rink on Place du Château. Well worth a visit is La Petite France, an area of picturesque buildings with Christmas shops and a gingerbread bakery.
Warming food on offer includes sausages and choucroute (pickled cabbages) and the famous three-meat baeckeoffe stew. Wash everything down with excellent wine and beer.
There's even an array of Christmas music being performed around the city, including a traditional performance of Handel's Messiah.
The market runs in 2012 from November 24th to December 31st.
