On Tour: Debrett's New Season
From Glyndebourne to Glastonbury - A social calendar for the 21st century
18 July, 2011 - 21 July, 2011
Builth Wells, Wales

In late July comes the Royal Welsh Show, held at the Royal Welsh
Showground at Llanelwedd, just north of Builth Wells in mid-Wales.
The Royal Welsh Show is the biggest agricultural show in Europe,
transforming this sleepy market town on the River Wye into a
bustling visitor attraction.
It celebrates local farming and rural life over four days with a
variety of events, including carriage driving, mounted games, a
parade of hounds, trotting, livestock competitions (with categories
that include hunters, shires, agricultural heavy horses, beef and
dairy cattle and sheep) and a display of vintage machinery.
An important event on the Welsh calendar, in 2010 visitor numbers
reached 231,346. Highlights included 'Chariots of Fire', a stunt
carriage driving display, the King's Troop Royal Horse Artillery,
the Regimental Band of the Royal Welsh, a vintage machinery
display, Titan the Robot and even an amazing display of
synchronised duck-handling.
