Edinburgh, Scotland.

The Royal Edinburgh Military Tattoo showcases the best military bands, pipers and drummers, dancers and display teams from across the world every Augus as part of the wider Edinburgh Festival. On average 217,000 people see the Tattoo live on the esplanade of Edinburgh Castle and it has sold out in advance for over a decade.

Experience the electric atmosphere, combining magnificent music and military theatre set against the backdrop of Edinburgh Castle, the Tattoo really is unmissable. Lively dancing, humorous routines, impressive lighting and fabulous fireworks complement the skilful musical performances, including the thrilling massed pipes and drums. Every night the Military Tattoo ends on a poignant note as the Lone Piper performs from high up on the castle ramparts.

In 2012 the Tattoo celebrated  HM The Queen's Diamond Jubilee and the Year of Creative Scotland.  Highlights included a performance from Switzerland's Top Secret Drum Corps, remarkable drills from the Norwegian Armed Forces and talented pipe bands from the UK and Australia.

In 2013, the programme will include all the famed music, action and colour with soupçon of the unexpected, featuring performers from all points of the compass including the Far East, Europe, as well as Central and South America. With the Massed Pipes and Drums, Military Bands, display teams, dancers and the haunting lament of the Lone Piper set against  the magnificent backcloth of Edinburgh Castle.
