The
Oxford Lieder Festival is now in its twelfth year, and is the
biggest annual celebration of song in the United Kingdom.
Concerts are held in a range of settings all over the city, and
there is also a full programme of talks, workshops, a master course
led by Ian Partridge, lunchtime concerts, and an educational
programme held in three local schools.
Look forward to a packed programme of song cycles, performed by some of the world's finest recitalists.
Many of the concerts take place in the intimate atmosphere of the Faculty of Music's Holywell Music Room, the oldest custom-built concert hall in Europe, which opened its doors to the public for the first time in 1748.
Singers will include: Birgid Steinberger (11th), Sylvia Schwartz (13th), Roderick Williams (14th & 16th), Adrian Thompson(14th), Sir Willard White (15th), Sophie Bevan (17th), Andrew Kennedy (17th), Robert Murray (18th), Mark Stone (18th),Roman Trekel (19th), James Bowman (20th), Joan Rodgers (21st), Wolfgang Holzmair (22nd), Toby Spence (23rd), Christoph Prégardien (25th), and Kate Royal (26th).
