Oxford Lieder Festival

Oxford

Oxford-Literary-Festival.jpgThe Oxford Lieder Festival is now in its twelfth year, and is the biggest annual celebration of song in the United Kingdom.

Concerts are held in a range of settings all over the city, and there is also a full programme of talks, workshops, a master course led by Ian Partridge, lunchtime concerts, and an educational programme held in three local schools.

Look forward to a packed programme of song cycles, performed by some of  the world's finest recitalists.

Many of the concerts take place in the intimate atmosphere of the Faculty of Music's  Holywell Music Room, the oldest custom-built concert hall in Europe, which opened its doors to the public for the first time in 1748.

Singers will include: Birgid Steinberger (11th), Sylvia Schwartz (13th), Roderick Williams (14th & 16th), Adrian Thompson(14th), Sir Willard White (15th), Sophie Bevan (17th), Andrew Kennedy (17th), Robert Murray (18th), Mark Stone (18th),Roman Trekel (19th), James Bowman (20th), Joan Rodgers (21st), Wolfgang Holzmair (22nd), Toby Spence (23rd), Christoph Prégardien (25th), and Kate Royal (26th).
