Formerly held in The Hague, this three-day festival at the Rotterdam Ahoy arena in the Netherlands was set up in 1976, with the aim of bringing a wide range of jazz to the public, from American to European avant-garde.

Having been expanded to incorporate 15 stages and drawing more than 20,000 music fans a day, it aims to present something for everyone with its mix of New Orleans jazz, swing, bebop, fusion, blues, funk, soul and drum and bass.

Over the course of the three-day festival there are approximately 180 acts, featuring 1,500 musicians. An entire hall is dedicated to Jazz and Cinema.

The festival tends to sell out early; Early Bird tickets are available to regular visitors.

Headline acts for 2013 are yet to be announced.
