This growing
international arts festival really puts East Anglia on the cultural
map with an array of classical and contemporary music, art,
jazz and dance.
With a history stretching back 240 years, Norwich Festival enjoys
attendance figures of over 300,000. The Festival utilises a number
of venues around the picturesque city, including Norwich Cathedral
and the famous Spiegeltent (a large travelling tent made of canvas
and wood, and decorated with mirrors and stained glass). There's
even a free garden party!
In 2012 the Festival featured the UK premiere of a show named 100% Norfolk, in which a cast of 100 local people. The Festival also included a great range of theatre and performance, from Motor Show, an outdoor dance performance set on an urban wasteland, to a one-woman show mezzo-soprano Jessica Walker, The Girl I left Behind Me.
The dates and line-up for the 2013 Norfolk and Norwich Festival will be announced at the beginning of March.
