The Cheltenham Festival of Literature offers events involving more than 400 writers and other speakers over ten days in October, and is now in its 61st year.

New theatre and visual arts displays are also on the programme, plus street performances around the Regency town. Comedy and children's events are particularly strong.

In 2013 the Cheltenham Festival of Literature will be celebrating its 64th anniversary.

Highlights of the 2012 Festival included: JK Rowling, Salman Rushdie, Sebastian Faulks, Terry Pratchett, Philip Pullman and Ian Rankin; British screen icons including Roger Moore and Jenny Agutter; television stars spanning Michael Palin to David Walliams; as well as sports personalities including Victoria Pendleton and Clare Balding to name but a few.
