From Glyndebourne to Glastonbury - A social calendar for the 21st century
Brighton Festival Fringe
04 May, 2013 - 02 June, 2013
Brighton, East Sussex
May is festival month in Brighton, and the lively seaside city
pulsates with arts-related activities - theatre, music, dance,
artshows, comedy, kids' entertainment. Complementing the more
mainstream attractions of the Brighton Festival, the festival
fringe hosts a packed calendar of events that seem to take over
every available venue.
A range of attractions include stand-up comedy, international cabaret, dance, theatre and circus.
Fringe theatre events take place all over the town and the surrounding area, including some unusual locations such as Newhaven Fort, Lewes Castle, museums and many of the city's extensive collection of churches, pubs and studio theatres.
On Saturdays throughout May Brighton showcases Fringe City, an action-packed street party that transforms the centre of Brighton into an open-air venue for music, theatre, dance, comedy and circus acts. This is the way in which fringe performers promote their shows, and it ensures that Brighton's already vibrant streets are alive with flamboyant theatricality throughout the festival month.
