Santa Anita Park, Arcadia, Los Angeles

The ultimate testing ground for thoroughbreds, the Breeders' Cup
is an end-of-year championship, which combines fierce competition
with flamboyant spectacle.
Now over 25 years old, the Breeders' Cup is an important date on
the American racing calendar. It also draws thoroughbreds from all
over the world - indeed the first Breeders' Cup Turf championship
was won by the Aga Khan's Lashkari, ridden by Alain de
Royer-Dupre.
Usully the Breeders' Cup World Championships is held at a
different racetrack in North America. In 2011, the Breeders' Cup
World Championships was held in Kentucky at Churchill Downs, the
legendary home of the Kentucky Derby. In 2012 it moves to Santa
Anita, California.
Santa Anita Park, with its backdrop of the San Gabriel Mountains, is considered by many as the world's most beautiful race track. It opened in 1934 and in its heyday was associated with a number of Hollywood stars, including Betty Grable, Lana Turner, Jane Russell, Cary Grant and Esther Williams.
