Hampton Court Flower Show

08.07.14 - 13.07.14
East Molesey, Surrey

The perennially popular Hampton Court Flower Show draws crowds of over 160,000 visitors in the course of a week and is the largest of the RHS flower shows. It takes place on a 33-acre site erected on the north and south sides of the Long Water in Hampton Court Park, while the Tudor and Baroque façade of Hampton Court palace forms a magnificent, stately backdrop.

The RHS Show is launched with much fanfare on the evening of July 9, with the Exclusive Preview Evening (now sold out), which includes fireworks and live music whilst all other tickets range from £15 to £35. The Show offers a plethora of ideas and inspiration for the enthusiastic gardener with as many as 50 display gardens. Emphasis will be put on floral marquees, and on growing food to eat in the Growing Tastes Marquee with abundant opportunity to buy a variety of plants and garden products.

For 2014, the highlights include Ocean Spray Cranberry Harvest Display, RHS Invisible Garden, Inspiring sculptures and the Hands On stations. Another standout feature will be Celebrating 50 years of Britain in Bloom, for which Jon Wheatley has created an outstanding show as featured in Escape. This highlight harvests the power of community gardening and embodies the three main pillars of Bloom: the environment, horticulture and community. It demonstrates high-quality horticultural practice and landscaping, incorporates beautiful planting (including vegetables) and showcases fantastic art and heritage in the landscape for visitors to enjoy. A new dahlia called ‘Bloom 50’ will be launched at the show as well and when it is brought to the market in 2015, half of the income generated will be used to support Bloom groups.

If you start to feel a little peckish, the show also offers a range of cuisines including seafood and champagne at Grow, the Garden Walk Café (Escape), Long Water Delis (Escape and Grow), the Alium restaurant (Inspire), Kings Food Court (Escape) & The Palace Garden Room (Grow).
