Festival of British Eventing
A celebration of equestrian achievement, this event encompasses dressage (on Friday), show-jumping (Saturday), and culminates on Sunday with the Show Jumping Championship Final and the Cross Country Championship.
Throughout the weekend there are junior and novice events, as well as pony club competitions. There are also a number of displays in the main arena, including dressage to Music, Charlotte Dennis's Natural Horsemanship Display and Bog Hogg's entertaining exhibition of sheep dogs' skills. There are also opportunities to make the acquaintance of the Royal Agricultural College beagles and the Duke of Beaufort hounds.
A huge range of tradestands sell all things equine as well as crafts, local products, country clothing, gifts and art.
Gatcombe Park is the private country home of Princess Anne. The house was built in the late 18th century, and has grounds of over 700 acres. The Festival of British Eventing, which attracts top Olympians, regularly draws crowds of over 40,000.
