Food Labelling

food-labelling.jpgIn the UK, the Food Standards Agency encourages supermarkets and food manufacturers to adopt a food labelling system based on the colours of traffic lights.

The traffic light-coloured system aims to help shoppers make healthy choices, and cut down on fat, sugars and salt.

The use of colours makes it easy to make quick choices, and the consumer can see recommended daily amounts at a glace.

Red indicates that the product is high in elements in which we should only eat in moderation. Amber suggests that it is a balanced amount of possible 'danger' ingredients, while green confirms to the shopper that it is a healthy choice.
