Breakfast
During the night, your body regenerates itself by
using building materials from the food you ate the previous day.
You also use about one litre of water through just breathing and
sweating.
Simple carbs at breakfast - toast, sugary cereals - immediately
turn into sugar when digested. The subsequent rise in blood sugar
level forces the pancreas to produce more insulin which, in-turn,
removes the extra sugar from the blood and turns it into fat.
As your blood sugar levels drop, you feel hungry and weak and are
more likely to grab convenience food again, high in simple carbs…
and so the cycle begins again.
Poor breakfast choices are the most common reason for weight gain,
tiredness, high blood pressure and diabetes.
Breakfast is, therefore, essential for the following:
- restoring energy
- replenishing building materials
- rehydrating
- maintaining blood sugar levels for consistent energy
