Former Wife of a Hereditary Baron
If a marriage between a Baron and Baroness has been dissolved, the former wife (although no longer a peeress) may continue to use her title as a Baroness's wife, preceded by her Christian name (unless she remarries*). This also applies to the former wife of a Lord of Parliament in the peerage of Scotland
How to address the Former Wife of a Hereditary Baron
The recommended (social) style of address is as follows:
| Beginning of letter | Dear Lady Poole |
| End of letter | Yours sincerely |
| Envelope | Lucinda, Lady Poole |
| Verbal communication | Lady Poole |
| Invitation | Lucinda, Lady Poole |
| Description in conversation | Lady Poole |
| List of Directors or Patrons | Lucinda, Lady Poole |
| Place card | Lucinda, Lady Poole |
| Legal document | Lucinda, Lady Poole |
*If the former wife of a Baron subsequently remarries she adopts her style of address from her present husband. Thus if Lucinda, Lady Poole marries Mr Cuthbert Robinson she becomes Mrs Cuthbert Robinson.
