Former Wife of a Viscount
If a marriage between a Viscount and Viscountess has been dissolved, the former wife (although no longer a peeress) may continue to use her title as a Viscount's wife, preceded by her forename (unless she remarries*)
How to address the Former Wife of a Viscount
The recommended (social) style of address is as follows:
|Beginning of letter||Dear Lady Powerscourt|
|End of letter||Yours sincerely|
|Envelope||Pauline, Viscountess Powerscourt|
|Verbal address||Lady Powerscourt|
|Invitation||Pauline, Lady Powerscourt|
|Description in conversation||Lady Powerscourt|
|List of Directors or Patrons||Pauline, Viscountess Powerscourt|
|Place card||Pauline, Viscountess Powerscourt|
|Legal document||Pauline, Viscountess Powerscourt|
* If the former wife of a Viscountess subsequently remarries she adopts her style of address from her present husband. Thus if Pauline, Viscountess Powerscourt, marries Mr Cuthbert Robinson she becomes Mrs Cuthbert Robinson.
