The Chief Rabbi

The Chief Rabbi is the spiritual head of the United Synagogue, the largest synagogue body in the UK, and therefore the Chief Rabbi of the mainstream British orthodox synagogues, receiving widespread recognition from the majority of UK Jews. He is styled as Chief Rabbi of the United Hebrew Congregations of the Commonwealth.

The Chief Rabbi Emeritus is styled as for the Chief Rabbi, with the addition of ‘Emeritus’.

How to Address the Chief Rabbi

The recommended style of address is as follows:
