Debrett's Today
As society began to evolve, so too did Debrett's. In 1982 Debrett's Handbook appeared, and was the first new biographical reference book of its kind to record successful business people alongside titled families and the landed gentry.
The continuing
changes in the scope and structure of society gave rise to
Debrett's Distinguished People of Today, first published in 1988.
The aim of this new reference work was to include a wider spectrum
of people considered distinguished by their role in society rather
than bloodlines. In its current form, Debrett's People of Today,
the work continues to recognise those whose achievements have
raised them to renown as leaders in their field.
The twentieth century also saw the publication of the classic
titles Correct Form and Etiquette and Modern Manners.
In 2006
a new edition of Correct Form was published, fully updated for the
digital age, and Etiquette for Girls, the ultimate guide for the
modern girl about town. In 2007 the Wedding Guide hit the shelves
as well as a stunning range of real leather diaries.
At the end of the year the 147th edition of Debrett's Peerage and Baronetage was launched as was the 2008 edition of Debrett's People of Today.
Debrett's A-Z
of Modern Manners and Guide for the Modern Gentleman were launched
in 2008. All of these titles are beautifully designed and
illustrated. They are not only perfect gifts, but also
indispensable guides.
